Project : Spread the Cheer!

Every morning for the pass 2 years, while I'm waiting for the Lab to open, I always stare at this tree and wanedt to do something to it (especially near Christmas). So this year, taadaa....

To boost up festive atmosphere, I decided to decorate the tree.

Thanks DML2 U3 for the help :-D

Well it still looks pretty empty right now, but now it will be your turn! Help us to SPREAD THE CHEER! Just contribute something and hang it on the tree (not necessary to buy from shop, it can be your own hand craft such as origami, something creative... ) , you can even put up your wish list on the tree. Finally take a picture, tag it and SHARE!

How Mac welcomes Window 7

Well, you've window 7 tvcs, now lets look at how apple responds to Windows.

Well, the OS war never ends.

Window 7 - "7 second demo"

7 seconds of tvc purely focus on window 7 new features. (without pinpointing competitors) Finally end with, "I'm a PC..." - you know what i mean :-D

"I'm a PC and Windows 7 was my idea"

Microsoft have launch a series of tvcs focusing on the Window 7 new features, telling the world that "Hey, we listen to your feedback :-) and as the result, window 7 is born". It is a very smart approach as Window Vista seems to be an OS that have plenty of complaints.

15Malaysia

15Malaysia is a short film project. It consists of 15 short films made by 15 Malaysian filmmakers. These films not only deal with socio-political issues in Malaysia, they also feature some of the best-known faces in the country, including actors, musicians and top political leaders. You may think of them as funky little films made by 15 Malaysian voices for the people of Malaysia.

One of my favourite, directed by Ho YuHang (the director of Rain Dogs 太陽雨) and starred by Namewee :-)
Potong Saga

hope u guys learned something from this presentation...

Pahit getir hidup dan pengorbanan
Terpaksa dihadapi demi kejayaan
Terdidik sejak mula tabah berusaha
Tanpa cuba melangkah tak kemana
Di mana kau berada
Pencapaian tak tiba dengan mudah

Kini "Standing In The Eyes Of The World"
Hanyalah selangkah dari nyata
Keazaman membara dijiwa
Menanti saat bebas merdeka
Tiba masa kau melangkah gagah
Bersemangat ke arah matlamat sedaya-upaya
Engkau terunggul
Wajar "Standing In The Eyes Of The World"

Harapan yang pernah terkulai layu
Kembali segar mekar bawah bayanganmu
Setiap manusia ingin berjaya
Namun tak semua miliki tuah
Engkau menghampirinya
Kesempatan telah pun tiba...

Kini "Standing In The Eyes Of The World"
Hanyalah selangkah dari nyata
Keazaman membara dijiwa
Menanti saat bebas merdeka
Tiba masa kau melangkah gagah
Bersemangat ke arah matlamat sedaya-upaya
Engkau terunggul

none-related at all

Went kinda quiet lately in blogs heh? Guess everyone's concentrating on their assignments. Let's just take a short moment and enjoy some good songs wouldn't we? >.<

Heard this over the radio the other night in mamak, refreshed some good ole' classics. No music, no life. p/s: All the very best in next week's prototype presentation =)

死了都要改

Those who feel the same pain can just form a group and sing this to me and Mr. Allen during your week 8 presentation, hahaha. This is specially dedicated to all designers.

Comic Blog

Comic blog seems to be a trend these day and getting a lot of attention from the viewers. Especially the Emoticon (Emotion icon) created by them have been widely use on the Messenger. For example, I'm sure you all should know:

"Onion" 052

One very successful comic blog example is

"彎彎" (Wan Wan)
from Taiwan. Starting from a very simple blog, the author extended her fame to graphic novel, tvc and even tv shows.

年代新聞人物專訪特輯-部落格畫家彎彎

彎彎 in 康熙來了

台灣固網ADSL廣告

You can check out her blog on - Wan Wan's comic blog

Also another one of my favorite comic blog -

毛毛蟲 (hair2)

(I find that we have a lot of things in common, for example - we like to showcase our partner (擺我們的令一半上台).)

Click on the image or here to visit hair2's blog.

Of course not to miss out our local comic blog -

Miao & WafuPafu

You don't need to be an artist or designer to create comic blog. Check out

"The life & Time of Jason Phoon"

He is a PROGRAMMER, but the comic he create is hilarious! Although sometimes or most of the time the comic should be rated as 18sx.

So... let's start drawing! XD

The Last Airbender

The Last Airbender, is an upcoming 2010 fantasy film written, directed, and produced by M. Night Shyamalan (one of my favorite director who wrote and directed The Sixth Sense and Unbreakable).

The film is adapt from of a famous animated TV series by Nickelodeon - "Avatar: The Last Airbender".The animation series heavily influenced by Asian art, mythology and various martial-arts fighting styles.

The story takes place in a fantasy world that human civilization is divided into four nations: the Water Tribes, the Earth Kingdom, the Air Nomads, and the Fire Nation. Each nation has the ability to control the element of their nation.

Only the "Avatar" possess the power of controlling the four elements and responsible for maintaining balance of the world.

Official site for the movie: The Last Airbender

Also spent some time to check out M. Night Shyamalan's official site. It is pretty interesting.

H1N1 crash course

Confirmed cases of H1N1 lately is making everyone panic without the right reasons. I may not be a doctor to justify all these, but a close friend of mine who is a qualified pharmacist (please note that 'guai lou's pharmacy concept is 100% different from ours in Malaysia) clarified a few points.

1. The H1N1 now is not the so-called 'original virus' from pigs back in the 1920s. It is an infection circulating around human all these while, just like cough and normal flu around the air.

2. H1N1 is being categorized as a flu, just cause it is indeed just a flu. You know, those normal flu you get when your immune system is unable to fight back the normal flu?

3. As we know, we recover from the normal kinda flu once we get proper medication and recovers. Same goes to H1N1, human are contracted to it cause of the immune system. Once the immune system is boosted and recovered, eventually H1N1 will be gone as well from the system.

4. ONLY people who are immuno-compromised (lack of immunity in their body and unable to fight back contractions), like those with cancer and diabetic face risks in being killed by H1N1.

5. SO GOOD NEWS for normal people like you and me, as long our immune system exists in us (which is and always will be), we will be fine and not freaking die!

6. SOLUTION? H20 and Vitamin C. Lots of it! Take more fluids and 4gm Vitamin C per day. It will definitely boost up your immune system and prevent H1N1 from infecting your system even if someone with H1N1 sneezed directly into your face.

7. Masks don't work! Yes babe, H92 or H99 or whatever masks with canggih-manggih name for it, or how often you wear it even in sleep or kissing your girlfriends. ONLY surgical mask works. Yes, surgical masks. Can you find one?

C'mon guys. Please don't fear something you do not know. Just only because others are panicking, we just follow suit blindly for the heck of it. Typical human nature. I almost got annoyed by people who are just worrying everyday as if they are waiting for the flu to infect them.

If you're not infected by H1N1, live your life normally. If you're a positive H1N1 carrier, live life normally as well. What difference does it make? All you need is some medication and rest, just like when you get a common flu.

Michael Jackson Passed Away!

OMG, Michael Jackson has died! I overheard the news from through radio this morning. I don't know about you all, but I grew up listening to his song. And I remember I was thrilled the first time I watch his music video "Black and White". This is such a big shock as I heard he is preparing his London Comeback tour in this July...

SoFake

Really cool transition effect on the Röyksopp Music Video- epal. It reminds me of a website - Sofake. Really cool and creative, yet the transition so smooth... errr at that time lar.(around year 2002~2003, makes me feel so old...sob ...) .

Check it Out! http://www.sofake.com/

Röyksopp

And so I got to know quite a number of fellas who got hooked to the song used in Deadline: post-it stop motion, including me.

It's by Röyksopp from their 1st album: Melody A.M. and is still a hit in live concerts today. Went searching for its original music video, and it's real hard to look for it and that it's a classic rare.

p/s: Do you think the style of the music video can become a potential Flash Web transition design?

Anyway, here it is:

stop motion: DEADLINE

3 MONTHS of planning...

4 DAYS of shooting...

6,000++ post-it notes...
